दुःख-जन्म-प्रवृत्ति-दोष-मिथ्याज्ञानानां उत्तरोत्तरापाये तदनन्तरापायात् अपवर्गः॥
duḥkha-janma-pravṛtti-doṣa-mithyājñānānām uttarottarāpāye tadanantarāpāyāt apavargaḥ.
Pain, birth, activity, faults and misapprehension—on the successive annihilation of these in the reverse order, there follows liberation.

Suffering is caused by birth; birth is caused by karmic activity; activity is caused by mental defects (desire/aversion); defects are caused by false knowledge (delusion). By using logic to destroy the root delusion, the entire chain collapse sequentially, causing liberation.
